Smart Transport Issue 8 - DRT and the mysterious Acceleration Unit

The November 2020 issue of Smart Transport includes two articles by me.

Grant Shapps’s August announcement of an Acceleration Unit for transport was light on detail. Speeded-up delivery of road schemes may be one of its tasks, but there are other projects it could take in hand which offer much more potential for meeting decarbonisation targets.

And in the wake of collapsing passenger numbers, demand responsive transport is again being mooted as part of the rebirth of the bus. Through industry opinion and case studies I’ve looked at whether DRT can move beyond pilot projects to become part of a revitalised public transport system.
